MEDIA PASSPORT

The passport emblem was created with a series of star-like shapes overlapping each other in a perfectly circular arrangement; by selecting a shape and duplicating it several times to complete a full ring. This is more evident with the inner ring comprised of red, less complex shapes. A solid, dark green tone was applied to the background layer.

I wanted to replicate a professional front cover passport design by keeping additional elements simple and incorporating more intricately arranged elements following the design of the emblem, which is characteristic of a typical passport.

The configuration of distorted, linear elements attempts to create an effect similar to that of a passport page. A series of lines, parallel to each other, were inserted until they filled up the entire template. A tool was used to distort the lines from their original shape to replicate page creases. This was the first design concept.

This is the official design. The adjustment of the distortion of the lines now attempts to resemble water.

MEDIA PASSPORT DESIGN

Front cover

Made in Illustrator. When designing the emblem, I discovered that passports typically have the nation's coat of arms on their front cover. Therefore, I wanted to create an emblem design that almost resembles a coat of arms by incorporating elements that are characteristic of a coat of arms. An example is the shape used as the emblem's template which almost resembles a shield. If you search for different coats of arms, you will find that many also use a similar format.

Here are some real-life examples of various national passports.
